Garn Skinkle “The Trapper/Wood Carver”

Garn Skinkle resided in Belleville, Ontario. He ran a trapline there from a young teen to age 85 years. His passion for the outdoors was not limited to his trapline. He enjoyed fishing for trout in the summer and pickerel in the winter. Then hunting for deer and moose.
In his late 60’s Garn learned the art of wood carving. His subjects were the ducks he saw daily while on his trapline or outdoors enjoying life.
He would gather white cedar posts while on his trapline and this was his wood of choice to carve.
All his decoys are created from white cedar and are designed to be used while hunting. All the decoys are hollowed and hand painted. Garn stopped carving at the age of 85.
