Artist Dana Statham captures the calm, meditative beauty of this special place within the traditional territory of the Ahousaht First Nation. Painted after her first maternity leave, Statham explored deep teals and blues and the intricate details of driftwood, trees, and coastline, creating a piece that feels alive and full of quiet wonder.

Dana Statham is a self-taught artist currently living on lək̓ʷəŋən territory in Victoria, BC, Canada. Using bold, intentional brushstrokes of acrylic paint, she captures scenes of coastal British Columbia. Growing up on Vancouver Island provided abundant inspiration when it comes to her creative process. Coastal shorelines, arbutus trees, and underwater kelp gardens are common themes in her work.
