Took off the doors and hinges, cleaned it up with TSP Alternative and put on a coat of Ultra Grip .

The hardware was quite tarnished so we soaked in vinegar and lemon juice with a bit of baking soda and got them lookin’ spify.

Bottom doors painted next. Treated them to some Espresso furniture wax for depth.

Installed the bottom doors and cleaned up the glass inserts.

Stripped and stained the top glass doors and reinstalled the glass insert after touching up the patterned detail.

  • prep: washed with TSP Alternative & a coat of Ultra Grip on the melamine. The wood was soda blasted then washed with TSP Alternative.

  • paint: a combination of Fusion Mineral Paint Ash & Algonquin

  • coats: 2 on hutch & 3 on base (took up 1/2 pint of paint in total)

  • finish: espresso furniture wax

  • stain: custom blend of driftwood & cappuccino SFO

  • time it took me: 12 hours from prep to finish

  • brush: StaahlMeester #40 sash brush for the paint.
